#30DaysofThanks: Grateful for the Internet

#30DaysofThanks Blog writing challengeToday, Nov. 6, I am grateful for the Internet. I’m writing this on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 5, and I am falling asleep at the keyboard. My son was up every two hours last night because he has a nasty cold and, according to the doctor, four molars breaking through.

He was inconsolable, and every time I seemed to be falling asleep, he was up again. Needless to say, it was a very long day.

What does that have to do with being grateful for the Internet, you ask? Everything! Because when you’re a new mom, you look EVERYTHING up online. You ask friends via social networks. You email the doctor’s office. Without the Internet, none of these things would be possible!

All my friends and family had great suggestions, such as freezing hot dogs and letting him gnaw on them or using just a smidge of good bourbon on my finger to massage his little gums. (Just beware – that kid can bite. He’s got eight teeth up front already!)

I hope and pray that my little guy will be able to sleep tonight, and thus I will be able to sleep also. But, I’m still grateful for the Internet, so that I can learn things, keep in touch with family and – most importantly – ask for lots of prayer requests!

Will you join me in taking the #30DaysofThanks challenge? Each day from Nov. 1-30, write or share something for which you’re thankful with the hash tag #30DaysofThanks.
