In each of my positions, I oversaw company websites and intranets. I have used Dreamweaver, Cascade and WordPress as content management tools, as well as homegrown systems for several companies. I have a solid working knowledge of basic HTML.
At the University of West Florida, I oversaw the redesign of the university newsroom using an external vendor and WordPress as the CMS. This redesign earned:
- FPRA Pensacola chapter Grand Image Award, UWF Online Newsroom, 2012
- FPRA Pensacola chapter Image Award, UWF Online Newsroom, 2012
- FPRA Pensacola chapter Judges’ Award, UWF Online Newsroom, 2012
Rollins College R-Journals
As part of the public relations team, I implemented the Rollins R-Journals, a student blogging program in which we selected freshman students to write about their lives during their first year at college. Designed to be a recruitment tool, it gave a more authentic glimpse into Rollins life as opposed to the sales and marketing materials sent to applicants by the admissions office.
Students had to apply to the program, and in return for being selected and successful completion, received a stipend and a digital camera to keep. The program continued until at least 2010 (to my knowledge it has been disbanded since then).
This campaign earned an honorable mention in PR News’ Nonprofit PR Awards for Interactive PR and Marketing.
Rollins was one of the first institutions across the country to try this unique approach, and the Orlando Sentinel covered our efforts, along with those of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, also in Florida. The Rollins Alumni Record alumni magazine also published a brief about the program in its first year in 2005.
